Universities and colleges in the US
Not all universities and colleges in the US offer training at the master level. Even fewer universities offer doctoral studies. Also, the choice of specialties that are offered at the level of the master’s degree course, as a rule, will be much less than the choice of specialties at the bachelor’s level. Sometimes it happens that the university can have a specialty at the master’s level, but do not have such a specialty at the bachelor’s level. For example, Stanford University offers a Master of Business Administration (MBA) program, but they do not have a bachelor’s degree with such a specialty.

Obtaining a master’s degree in America usually takes two years of full-time education. Unlike a bachelor’s program, a master’s program usually contains subjects whose program will be focused on the chosen specialty. Therefore, students must choose a specialty in advance, before they submit documents for a specific master program. Some universities also require that the student already had a minimum work experience by the time he begins to study at the magistracy.
The American doctorate is even more narrowly focused. Some students receive a master’s degree before starting to apply for doctoral studies. But in America it is not necessary. Completion of the doctorate course usually takes 3-6 years. If the applicant did not have a master’s degree, he will receive this degree in the framework of doctoral studies, and then it takes a maximum of 6 years. In the process of studying in doctoral studies, the post-graduate student conducts an independent research work under the guidance of a scientific adviser, following which the research work is written and defended.
